Set Up an AI Assistant From Your Website Link

To set up an AI assistant from your website link, send the link to Maya, Entagl's AI business manager. She reads your site, fills in your business profile, adds your services or products with their prices, and builds your first AI employee, all inside a setup chat that is free. Setup is where small businesses stall: in a Goldman Sachs survey of 1,256 small business owners published in March 2026, 76% said they use AI, but only 14% said it is fully built into their core operations. Your new assistant talks to no customer until you connect a channel or add the chat to your website.

Why is setup the part that stalls?

Because it means typing your whole business into someone else's software. Every service, every price, your hours, your address, the answers you give fifty times a week. Many of the owners Goldman surveyed named blockers like a lack of technical expertise and difficulty choosing tools. And 73% said they would benefit from more training and implementation resources.

The smallest firms are furthest behind. The US Census Bureau's Business Trends and Outlook Survey found that between December 2025 and May 2026, AI use grew among firms with 20 or more employees but didn't change significantly among smaller ones, and fewer than 20% of firms with four or fewer employees reported using AI. (The surveys asked different groups: Goldman polled participants in its own business program, the Census Bureau samples firms nationwide.)

Your website already holds most of what an assistant needs. Maya's job is to move it across. The setup section of the Maya page has the short version.

What does Maya read on your website?

She reads up to six of your most useful pages in one pass, starting with the home page and then pages that look like about, services, menu, prices, contact and FAQ. She can also search the web for your business by name and city: reviews, social profiles, directory listings, press.

From that, she fills in:

  • Your business profile: name, a short description, industry, phone numbers, emails, locations, other websites and social links.
  • Opening hours and FAQs your site already states.
  • Services or products with prices, added up to 15 at a time.
  • Your Shopify catalog, if your site runs on Shopify. She brings in every product with its variants, prices, currency and photos straight from the store, and the catalog stays in sync after that.

Prices stay in the currency your site shows. If your site names no currency, she uses your business's own and tells you which one she picked. She never converts a price.

What happens in the setup chat, step by step?

Step What Maya does What you do
1. Welcome Asks about your business (only what she doesn't know yet) and, if unclear, whether you mainly book appointments or sell products Answer in a sentence or two
2. Research Reads your site and searches the web for your business Send the link, or skip if you have no site
3. Business profile Saves your details, hours, locations and social links Check the recap card
4. Offerings Adds services or products and FAQs, then offers a file card for price lists and brochures Add files or skip
5. Your assistant Asks what to call it and how it should sound, then writes its setup Choose the name and the tone
6. Test Opens a test chat with your new assistant Ask it what your customers ask
7. Channels Shows connect buttons for Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook and TikTok Finish the login on each app's own screen
8. Team Sends invites to teammates Add emails, or skip
9. Plan Shows the plan picker for your assistants Choose Free or Pro for each

During setup, most of her changes apply as she goes instead of waiting on approval cards. A few, like rewriting an older rule to settle a clash, still wait for your tap, and on WhatsApp a risky change such as deleting something opens a review page. The recap cards after the profile, offerings and assistant steps are your checkpoint: continue, or tell her what to change. Once setup is done, the default flips, and every change she prepares arrives as a card you approve.

What kind of AI employee does she build?

It depends on what you sell. A service business gets an assistant that answers questions and books appointments. A business that mainly sells products gets one that answers product questions and takes orders. If you run an online store, our guide to AI that answers product questions covers what that assistant needs to know.

Maya asks what to call it and won't invent a name for you. She also asks how it should sound, in your words: "warm and friendly, a few emojis" or "formal, no emojis" both work. This becomes your Receptionist, the AI employee that answers DMs and website chat.

Your prices, hours and services stay in your business info, where the assistant reads them on every reply. They aren't pasted into its instructions. So when a price changes next spring, you tell Maya once and every channel uses the new number (keeping prices current by chat). If something in the test chat sounds wrong, ask her to change how it replies.

What can't Maya pull in from your website?

  • Sites that block automated readers. If no page can be read, she says so and asks you for the details instead.
  • Prices that only exist as a picture or a PDF. She reads the text on your pages. A menu photo or a PDF price list linked from the site won't come through, so send it to her directly. The file card takes PDF, Word, PowerPoint, text files and photos, up to 10 MB each, and each file becomes knowledge your assistant can search.
  • Very large catalogs outside Shopify. Items go in 15 at a time, so a long list takes a few rounds.
  • Allergens and dietary labels. She records them only when your menu states them. She doesn't guess.
  • Bulk imports after setup. Bringing in a whole menu or catalog at once, and the Shopify import, only happen in the setup chat. Later, Maya can still read your site if "Browse the web" is on (it is by default for accounts created since October 27, 2026, and it uses credits), and any change she makes after that waits for your approval.

Can you do the whole setup from your phone?

Yes. You can run the entire setup on WhatsApp: text Maya your website link and she does the same work, sending short one-job links when you need to upload files, connect Instagram, test your assistant or pick a plan. The WhatsApp guide shows how, and connecting your channels covers the few that still need a computer.

FAQ

What if my business doesn't have a website?

You can skip the research step. Tell Maya about your business in your own words, or send a photo of your menu or price list. She can also search the web for your business name to find social profiles and directory listings.

Can Maya import my Shopify products?

Yes, from your public store link. She brings in every product with its variants, prices, currency and photos, and the catalog stays in sync with your store afterwards.

Does the setup chat cost anything?

No. Your first setup chat with Maya is free. After setup, chatting with her uses credits from your plan.

Will my assistant start answering customers straight away?

No. It answers nobody until you connect a channel or add the chat to your website, and you can talk to it first in the test step.
