Entagl vs Respond.io: When the AI Must Book, Call and Resume
Respond.io is a strong shared inbox with AI on top. We read its pricing page and help center to show where its AI answers, where it stops, and what Entagl does at those same moments.

Entagl vs Respond.io, as of October 2026: Respond.io's AI Agent answers incoming calls only, needs the Advanced plan for live calls and caps each call at 3 minutes (source), and for bookings it shares links to outside tools, because "You cannot create or edit meetings directly within respond.io" (source). After a teammate takes over, its AI stays off until someone reassigns the chat to it (source). Respond.io suits a team that wants one inbox across many chat apps at a lower entry price; Entagl suits a business that wants the AI to book the real slot in the chat, its separate Coordinator product to place confirmation calls, and the AI to resume by itself after a person steps in.
The short version is our Respond.io alternative compare page.
Where is Respond.io strong?
Respond.io is built for a team that wants many chat apps in one inbox, with Workflows and AI on top. If that is you, look closely:
- Channels. Its AI Agents work on every chat channel Entagl's AI answers, plus SMS, Viber and LINE (source).
- Entry price. AI Agents start on Growth at $159 a month billed yearly, with 10 users included (source). Entagl's list price is higher.
- Bursts of messages. A wait time setting, 1 second to 5 minutes, holds the reply while the customer keeps typing (source).
- Ads. A chat opened from a Meta or TikTok ad reaches the AI Agent with the campaign, ad group and ad name attached (source).
- Team and CRM. Internal comments, assignment, AI Assist drafts and AI Translate (source), plus up to 20 Lifecycle stages the AI can move contacts through (source).
- Copilot and security. Copilot drafts agent changes for your approval (source), and Respond.io is ISO 27001 certified.
How it charges (source): Starter $79 (5 users), Growth $159 (10), Advanced $279 (10) and custom Enterprise, all billed yearly. AI runs on credits, and WhatsApp and telephony fees are billed separately.
Where does Respond.io stop?
Can Respond.io's AI place a call?
No. The Handle Calls page says so: "Outbound calling is not supported, and the AI Agent can only answer incoming calls" (source). On inbound calls, "Each call is capped at a maximum of 3 minutes". A person can place a WhatsApp call by hand (source); we found no mention on Respond.io's public pages of AI-placed reminder or win-back calls. If no-shows are why you are shopping, that may settle it.
Bookings go out as links
Calendly, Cal.com and Google Calendar connect on Growth and above, to share booking links. All three help pages say "You cannot create or edit meetings directly within respond.io" (source).
What happens after a teammate takes over?
After a Takeover, "the AI Agent will not respond again unless the conversation is reassigned to it" (source). We found no mention of a timed automatic resume. A reply typed in the WhatsApp Business app arrives as an echo message that "Will not trigger automation" (source).
Does it hold back a quote until the details are in?
The AI Agent saves answers to Contact Fields when told to, and "AI Agents cannot detect when a Contact field update fails" (source). Validated questions are Workflow steps (source), and the only native form its help center lists is the pre-chat form on website chat (source). We found no mention of a rule that stops the AI quoting before the required answers are in.
Repeat questions and bad replies
Off-limits topics are lines in the AI Agent prompt (source), and "Snippets are not supported as a knowledge source for AI Agents at this time" (source). Copilot troubleshoots a bad reply once you describe what the agent should have done (source); we found no mention of a feature that collects or groups bad replies.
Comments, catalog and the invoice
Private Replies on Instagram and Facebook follow one rule, "Only one private message can be sent per comment" (source), and "Social post and comment-to-DM context is not passed to your AI Agent" (source). The Meta Product Catalog works on WhatsApp only (source), Shopify connects through Make, n8n or Zapier (source), and there is no Trendyol in its integrations directory (source).
Growth includes 10 users, then $20 a month each on yearly billing, and starts at 1,000 Monthly Active Contacts with overage at $12 per 100 (source).
What does Entagl do in those same moments?
Receptionist, the messaging agent, learns from your website and answers the same day, with no flow builder. It books real calendar slots within your hours, holidays, capacity and buffers, and customers reschedule or cancel in the chat. Reminders go out on WhatsApp, where a tap on Confirm, Reschedule or Cancel reaches the AI, or as plain SMS.
Coordinator is a separate product with its own credits. It answers inbound calls and places outbound ones on phone numbers and WhatsApp Business Calling: confirmations, reminders and no-show win-backs. It can ring your team first and take what nobody picks up, and you set the maximum call length. See what 21 studies say about no-shows.
- A teammate replies. From the Entagl inbox, or natively in the WhatsApp or Instagram app, the AI pauses for that chat and resumes by itself after the time you set: 60 minutes by default, 1 minute to 24 hours, or until you switch it back on. See human-in-the-loop AI for customer service.
- Someone wants a price first. "Info to collect" is a checklist held in code, not in the prompt. By default the AI will not quote, book or check out until the required answers are in, and it can send a secure hosted form link on any channel. See conversational intake, chat forms, or form links.
- A reply goes wrong. Replies are checked before they go out. Thumbs-down replies are grouped by root cause into proposed fixes, and a person approves each one.
- The same customer calls and chats. One phone number links WhatsApp chats and calls to one contact, so Coordinator reads the recent chat before it speaks. Instagram and WhatsApp contacts for one person stay separate until you merge them.
- A question you get fifty times a week. Topic auto-responses send your prewritten answer, translated into the customer's language; block rules stop or escalate topics the AI must not touch.
- Comments and stock. Comments Automation, a separate add-on, posts the reply you wrote under Instagram, Facebook and TikTok comments, and on Instagram and Facebook can also send it by DM; when the customer answers, Receptionist carries on. The catalog tracks stock; Shopify checkout links and Trendyol orders and Q&A are built in.
Every plan includes unlimited team members, unlimited contacts and all channels, with the AI included even on Free.

Who should pick which?
Respond.io fits you if customers write to you on SMS, Viber or LINE, your team lives in a shared inbox, and a lower entry price matters more than booking inside the chat.
Entagl fits you if no-shows cost you money, the slot has to be booked inside the conversation, and nobody should have to switch the AI back on after replying. So does selling on Trendyol.
