Entagl vs Podium: WhatsApp, Outbound Calls and Included AI
Podium is a texting-first platform for local businesses in the US, Canada and Australia. Entagl answers WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok and Telegram in 100+ languages and places calls. Here is where each one fits, with every Podium fact linked to its own pages.

Entagl vs Podium comes down to where your customers write. As of October 2026, Podium sells its AI Employee as an add-on to any plan, WhatsApp does not appear among its AI lead channels, and its confirmations and reminders go out by text. Entagl includes the generative AI agent on every plan, answers WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok and Telegram in 100+ languages, and its separate voice product, Coordinator, places reminder and win-back calls. Podium suits a local business in the US, Canada or Australia whose customers text and call; Entagl suits a business whose customers send messages, often in more than one language.
Who is Podium built for, and where is it strong?
Podium's pricing page lists Core at $399 a month, Pro at $599 a month and Signature at custom pricing. Every plan has unlimited contacts, team members and one-to-one texts, plus 1-on-1 onboarding and a dedicated success manager.
If your customers text, Podium is a strong fit. Its AI works over two-way SMS, which Entagl does not offer as a chat channel. Review replies, payment and deposit links, a Voice AI that answers the phone and a trainer agent you coach by chat all sit on one platform. Entagl does not take deposits or card payments in chat.
Some things came out level or in Podium's favor, so they are not in the table. The AI drafts review replies on every plan, with automated replies included from Pro (source); Entagl's Reputation Manager is a separate add-on for Google reviews. Release 26.7 says "Your AI employee remembers context across every channel", and when a team member steps in, the AI pauses for five minutes by default (15, 30 or 60 if you change it) and then resumes on its own (source). Your written corrections apply instantly (source). The trust center lists ISO 27001:2022 and PCI DSS 4.0.1 (source).
One contract detail: subscriptions run a 12-month initial term that auto-renews, and a client who terminates early owes the fees for the whole term (legal terms).
Where does Podium limit you?
Does Podium answer WhatsApp?
Podium's help center lists the AI Employee's lead channels as Webchat, SMS, Facebook, Instagram, Google, LeadDrive, Prompt to Text and Missed Call Text-back (source). We found no mention of WhatsApp or Telegram on Podium's product, pricing or help pages. Its TikTok for Business listing says the integration "is not compatible with direct business messaging" (source). Podium's terms name the United States, Canada and Australia as its service territory (legal terms).
Instagram DMs, story replies and story mentions do reach the Podium inbox (source). We found nothing about automated public comment replies or a comment-to-DM handoff. If your leads come from WhatsApp or Instagram posts, see how to automate Instagram and WhatsApp customer service.
How is Podium's AI priced?
The pricing page says "Add on AI Employee to any plan" and publishes no price for it. Its Scope of Use FAQ allows 1,500 AI Messaging segments and 300 Voice AI minutes a month, with overages billed at Podium's then-current rates (source).
Instant Answers, the saved question-and-answer pairs the AI matches by intent, are an add-on on Core and included from Pro at $599/mo (pricing). The Instant Answers article says nothing about the customer's language.
Can Podium's AI place a call?
Release 26.3 says "Jerry now handles and forwards incoming calls; answering questions, collecting info, and booking appointments" (source). The Avery page for aesthetics still labels Voice AI "Coming soon" (source). No page we read describes the AI placing an outbound call.
Confirmations and reminders go by text. The pricing table's tooltip says "via text" (source), and the home services site says "The AI Membership Coordinator texts your maintenance customers" (source). On no-shows, see what 21 studies show about reminders.
Which languages does Podium's AI speak?
Release 26.7 lets Home Services and Auto accounts "Enable up to 10 languages directly in the Voice tab of AI Studio" (source). We found no language list for the text AI Employee. The help center states that the Inbox "currently does not offer a native, built-in translation feature" (source). If half your inbox is not in English, read multilingual customer service with AI and your team.
What happens when a customer sends several messages in a row?
The only reply-timing control in Podium's help article is Response Delay Seconds, which "controls the time, in seconds, that AI will wait before responding to an initial message" (source). It sits under Backend Settings, and the article says backend changes go through Podium Support. We found no setting that groups several messages into one reply.
Does Podium cover commerce and ads?
Podium's Shopify integration syncs the catalog, pulls order and fulfillment data and runs abandoned-cart follow-ups (source). Trendyol returns nothing on podium.com. On ads, the Meta listing forwards lead-ad leads into Podium and writes conversions back (source); we found no page about generating ad creatives or optimizing ad spend.
What does Entagl do instead?
Receptionist answers WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, Facebook Messenger, TikTok, Telegram, forwarded email and your web chat, in 100+ languages with no per-language setup. The AI agent is included on every plan, Free included, and you pay in credits. Entagl's list price is higher than Podium's self-serve plans; Entagl pricing has the current plans.
A live conversation. A customer sends "hi", "how much" and "for two people" in a row. Entagl waits a short window (8 seconds by default, up to 5 minutes), reads all three and answers once. When someone on your team replies, in the Entagl inbox or straight from the WhatsApp or Instagram app, the AI pauses. It comes back after the time you set, from 1 minute to 24 hours, or stays off until you say so. The inbox translates incoming messages, and replies are checked before they go out. What to look for in AI conversation controls walks through each setting.
Repeat questions and comments. The question you get fifty times a week gets one saved answer, sent instantly in the customer's language. A topic the AI must not touch gets a block or escalate rule. Comments run on a separate add-on, Comments Automation. It posts your prewritten reply to Instagram and Facebook comments, publicly, by DM or both, and when the customer answers the DM, Receptionist carries on from there. On TikTok it replies publicly only, with no DM.
Bookings. Receptionist offers real calendar slots, and customers reschedule or cancel in chat. Reminders go out on WhatsApp, where the Confirm, Reschedule and Cancel taps reach the AI, or as plain SMS.
Calls. Coordinator is a separate product with its own credits. It answers calls on phone numbers and WhatsApp Business Calling, and places outbound ones: confirmations, reminders and no-show win-backs, with retries. It rings your team first, takes what nobody answers, and can warm-transfer. You set the maximum call length and pay per minute. The same phone number links a customer's WhatsApp chats and calls; an Instagram contact and a WhatsApp contact stay separate until you merge them.
